Green Namysłów

Namysłów Area is characterized by beautiful landscapes, numerous monuments and turbulent history. The region possesses both diverse landscape and economy and its pearl is more than 750-year-old Namysłów. Namysłów Area lies almost entirely within the borders of Oleśnica Plain.

The landscape’s distinguishing feature is its diversity between woodless north areas and forested middle and south part. Here Namysłów Wood represents the remains of primeval forest of early historic times.

Sandy hills are a characteristic feature of the southern part of the region. The huge and picturesque moraine embankments attracted people’s attention as early as in Mesozoic time (10,000 – 4,200 B.C.); encampments, settlements and cemeteries were set here. Dry, well sunned and located near sources of water, the hills made a suitable area for ancient farmers, breeders and . hunters.

Most of the hills can be found in the area of Świerczów, Dąbrowa Namysłowska and Kuźnica. Colonization remains of the pre-Slavic Lusatian Culture (1,300 – 400 B.C.), the east-Pomeranian Culture (500 – 400 B.C.) and a group of Slavic people given the name of Przeworsk Culture dating from 3rd – 4th century A.D. have all been found here.

Namysłów Area offers a lot opportunities for adventurous tourists sensitive to the surrounding. The region lies far away from industrial areas which makes it clean, quiet and green. Thus we are a “Green Poviat” warmly welcoming visitors to spend their free time with us if it is an hour, a day or a weekend.
